The Oaks Archive

Oct 6, 2024

The Oaks Archive was created as a living record of the homes, the events, and the personal stories that have shaped its history of this notable Los Angeles community, home to many celebrities, politicians and artists of modern and bygone eras.

As If Productions was tasked with constructing a custom database schema, along with a custom WordPress plugin for managing highly detailed input gathered by the community and organized via tags on the website, making sure the whole system was highly automated and easy to manage for the volunteer staffers who maintain the site.

On the Oaks Archive site, you begin by exploring STREETS (an index to all the homes in the Oaks). Homes marked on each street with an icon include personal stories, pictures, and other information. Use BROWSE to look up the names of notable residents, articles related to the Oaks in general, and fascinating stories about the neighborhood’s history, which began in 1924. There is also a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page that provides more information.
