HOW TO USE TABLOO

1. SETTING UP (SIDEBAR CONTROLS)

To create a new table, begin by giving it a Table Title; this is the text that will appear in the header cell of your results column, replacing the default text "WHAT YOU ARE ROLLING FOR". Example:

Mirkwood Encounters

Next, paste in a List of Results that you want in the table, one per line. You can paste this text from any word processor or text editor. There is no limit to the number of lines your table can have, but tables with hundreds of lines will process more slowly. Example:

1-10 Giant Spiders
1-20 Large Bats
1-4 Trolls
1-6 Adventurers
Merchant Party
Dark Rider

Select the number of "Roll Columns" you want in your table; these represent different "modes" or conditions with different odds. Example:

If you want different odds for Morning, Afternoon, and Night, you could select "3" and your table will include columns for each of these conditions.

Click the "Update Table" button to render the initial version of your table. New fields will appear in the sidebar for the titles of each column; you can give them names or edit them - you can even edit your List Results - and Update the Table again at any time.

2. FINE-TUNING (TABLE CONTROLS)

The basic frame of your table can now be seen; all that's left is to assign dice rolls and odds for each entry.

First, select the Die Roll you will use for each column, in traditional "XDY" notation (2d6, 1d100, etc). You will also see the number of Slots Remaining - this will track how many pips you've got left as you fill in the odds in the column above. You may use different Die Rolls for different columns.

Once a column has its Die Roll value selected, you can begin adding pips for the Results within it. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Green Arrows increment the number of pips in the cell, while Red Arrows decrement it.
  2. For a quick start, you can Average any column - or all columns. Averaging automatically divides the total number of Slots by the number of possible Results (rounding down), and assigns that quotient to all cells in the column. There may still be a few Slots Remaining, and you'll need to place these manually.

When the Total number of pips used in a column equals the number of Slots available, the Total will turn green. If the Total exceeds the number of Slots, it will turn red. Before you format or output your table, all columns you want to output must have 0 Slots Remaining.

By default, the pips in a cell are represented by bullets, making it easy to grasp the relative size of Results compared to each other. You may view your progress in standard "Roll Format" any time by clicking the "Roll Format" button.

3. OUTPUTTING YOUR TABLE

When you're satisfied with your table, you can output it for use in your own docs. There are three formats available:

  • Tabbed Text separates columns with tabs; this is suitable for pasting into a document or spreadsheet that handles tables automatically, or can convert text to tables.
  • Monospaced Text separates columns by padding them with spaces; this is best for pasting into a simple monospaced text document.
  • HTML Markup produces a formatted table using HTML tags.
  • Copy the output and paste it into your doc. You're Done!
